Week 10 Reading Notes Part A: Krishna Defender of Dharma

For this weeks reading notes I decided to take notes on the graphic novel, "Krishna: Defender of the Dharma." Within the first few pages of the reading an evil demon by the name of Kalanemi has incarnated as Kansa who seems to be quite the bit of trouble. Kansa dragged his father, the King, into a dungeon in order to take his earthly treasures. Kansa sounds like a very evil spoiled brat. Kansa became more powerful than Indra, so Indra went to Lord Vishnu for help. Kansa is then cursed and his sister eighth child will end up killing him. Therefore, he goes and locks up his sister and her husband. This graphic novel is insane. Kansa decides that he will kill all his sisters children and within the novel when his sister gives birth, he takes the child and squeezes it to death instantly killing it. It is really graphic! Through the creativity of the gods, the last two children lived and they were named Krishna and Balarama.
Kansa has called on the demon chiefs to hunt down and kill every child under one. Putana, an evil assassin, puts poison on her breasts and has babies drink from them, killing the babies. When she got Krishna to drink from her breasts, Krishna sucked the life out of her, killing her. Another demon Trinavarta tried to kill Krishna by becoming a whirlwind, but Krishna became heavy and killed Trinavarta. This is starting to become my favorite of the various graphic novels I have read so far!

Time Strategies

This assignment was perfect for me today. The first week of school has officially finished and this is the point in the semester where I can make the decision to get ahead in my classes or fall behind. As of now I am falling behind. I originally planned to stay a week ahead for this class, but here I am writing a blog that is due today. Reading through the various articles was an eye opener for me and made me realize that I need to plan more efficiently and just start my schoolwork rather than procrastinate until the last minute. The article, " The Important Habit of Just Starting" was something I needed today. I was thinking before I started this assignment that I have been falling behind and I need to get ahead. Just starting my schoolwork will help me get to my goal. This week my goal is to get a week ahead and that means doubling up my assignments. Week 5 Story: Sita

Many centuries ago, there existed a young woman by the name of Sita. Her parents asked the gods for a child, and the gods blessed them with her. She was found within the Earth, and her parents knew from the moment they saw her, that she would be a blessing. As Sita grew older she constantly hung around her sister, Umila, and her cousins. When she became of age to marry, her father began looking for a suitable man for her. A young man by the name of Rama was perfect for Sita. He was strong and wise beyond his years. Thus, Sita and Rama became married. However, due to the selfishness of Queen Kaikeyi, Rama was forced to go into the wilderness for 14 years, due to a promise his father made with Queen Keikeyi.
